Look. I’ll put my hand up on this one. This one is on me… I didn’t do the best job switching back and forth between the Bruins and the Celtics. I got sucked into the fun Celtics as bad as I got hooked into HBO when I was 12 and realized there were tons of shows with boobs.
However, when I did switch to the Bruins it was the same thing that stuck out to me every single time. They chased their own tails all night long. The entire game seemed like it was being played on Columbus’ terms and the Bruins had no flow to anything they did. Brad Marchand was taking bad penalties. Nothing was working in the offensive zone, and Tuukka just looked shell-shocked.
The B’s went down 3-0 midway through the second and I thought they were cooked. I was glad to be proven wrong.
Bergeron. Krug. Marchand. In that order got the Bruins back in the game. I switched back in time to see Marchand’s goal live and boy oh boy was that a beauty.
Twisted wrister like it’s NHL 18. Both Bergeron’s goal and Marchand’s goal were on the power play and the Bruins were 2-4 on the man advantage for the night. It was also nice to see Torey Krug score after essentially pissing the game away against the Kings with that turnover.
The Bruins tied it at three and were able to steal a point away when the night was over which was the positive of the game. Overtime was another wash with no team being able to put one in the back of the net, and the game goes to a shootout.
The Bruins go on to lose the shootout 2-0 and the game 4-3 as a result… but I just want to take the end of this blog to say SHOOTOUTS STILL SUCK AND WILL ALWAYS SUCK AND THEY NEED TO BE ERASED FROM THE GAME OF HOCKEY FOREVER.
Shootouts are the worst. Especially when 3-on-3 overtime is so much fun.
3-on-3 overtime is the original Anchorman… The shootout is Anchorman 2. That’s all there is to it.
The Bruins are now losers of two straight and both of them are games they could’ve cashed in on. They’re back at it again Thursday night against Vegas.
