Due to the fact I have two jobs (shameless feel bad for me plug) this will be a quick one. The B’s finally stopped their 4 game losing streak with a huge win in Los Angeles. A much needed pick me up for the team especially after learning that Brad Marchand has been placed on Injured Reserve. Let’s dive straight into the highlights:
Charlie McAvoy can’t walk into a bar but he can do this!
McAvoy scored his first goal in 17 games there, but as a defenseman, we shouldn’t really be worrying about that. Of course, I would love to see him explode offensively but he needs to focus on defense first. That goal was a prime example of taking what the defense gives you and making them pay. HE’S 19 YEARS OLD!
The Bruins took a 1-0 lead into the second period. The Kings quickly countered with a goal of their own, but Chara had the answer with a wicked wrista.
Then it was the Anton Khudobin show. I’m officially team Khudobin. My reasoning? We actually win when he plays. The Bruins have yet to lose in regulation when he is the net-minder. He had 27 saves on 28 shots and stopped the bleeding, giving the B’s a much-needed victory.
I’m not a big numbers guy, but the numbers don’t lie folks:
Anton Khudobin: 4-0-2 2.35 GAA (Goals Against Average) .928 Save %
Tuukka Rask 3-7-2 2.89 GAA .897 Save %
For those who aren’t aware, a .897 Save % is ATROCIOUS! If Tuukka doesn’t shape up we are going to have a goalie change and I am all for it.
The Bruins finish up their trip out west in San Jose for a showdown against the Sharks on Saturday night. I hope Anton Khudobin gets the start.
The Bruins need to start stringing some wins together because there are already people calling for them to sell the farm. I for one, do not believe they need to do that just yet, but if they continue to play inconsistent hockey I won’t be able to vouge for them much longer. For now, we celebrate an awesome night for Boston sports. The city is
