What a difference a year makes, huh?
I guess in life, but really I’m talking about the Boston Celtics entering the playoffs. How weird is it that we’re entering the playoffs after a season where the Celtics retooled their roster with studs, and yet have less expectations?
That’s what Douchebag Mr. Injury will do to a team. Last season we expected the Celtics to be in the East finals and they got there (I don’t remember what happened during that series so it must not have happened)…
No Kyrie, Hayward, Theis, Smart… This team is pretty decimated right now. Smart is able to come back for round 2 but let’s focus on round 1 right now.
Still Expect Something
I might be in the minority here but I really don’t think I am… If the Celtics lose in round one it’s going to be a disappointment.
“BUT SETH! THE BUCKS! WHAT ABOUT GIANNIS?!?!?! JABARI PARKER IS HEALTHY! YOU FAT STUPID SLOTH!”
First of all, ouch. No need to bring the weight thing into it I’m working on it. Second of all, I really don’t care about the Bucks. I know Giannis is a freak, but the Celtics are a better basketball team top to bottom than the Bucks. Those are facts.
I’m just saying that although expectations are lower than the start of the season, I don’t think anyone should be expecting the Celtics to lose this series.
Speaking of expectations, the Celtics don’t give a shit about what people are saying. Marcus Morris told the Globe he feels like this team has been disrespected time after time throughout the season.
I love an angry Marcus Morris. This guy is such a spark plug for this team and Danny Ainge couldn’t have made a better move with shipping Avery Bradley to Detroit for Morris. We didn’t think much of it at the time but it’s going to pay dividends this playoff run.
Terry Rozier, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Al Horford, Aron Baynes
That’s the “projected” starting 5 for this run. I’m so excited for Terry, Jaylen, and Jayson. What a time for those three to be running in the starting 5 together for a playoff run. This playoff run is a future play. What does that mean?
I’m an optimistic guy but even I know the Celtics have NO SHOT of winning a title this year barring some “Angels in the Outfield” type shit where Red Auerbach summons some weird stuff.
This playoff run allows these young guys to get more playoff minutes under their belts. Playoff experience is worth its weight in gold. You’re telling me these guys get to have full playoff experiences and then next year they’ll have that experience with the addition of Kyrie and Gordon?
Sign me the hell up.
One Game At A Time
Game 1 is going to be wild. I expect the Garden to RIDE. The most important thing about the NBA playoffs is to take the run one game at a time.
Twitter is going to overreact to every game as if it decided the series but that’s just foolish. Brad Stevens and them boys are ready to roll and I’m excited to see who takes the reigns.
So, Celtics fans, enjoy this. Put this playoff run in perspective and look for the positives. I expect the Celtics to win this series but it’s not going to come easy.
Let’s do this. Celtics in 6.
