Fun Fact: The Celtics B-Squad Is Reallyyyy Good

While you were sleeping the Celtics won a game they had NO BUSINESS winning. Down 6 points with 2 minutes to go, I was applauding the valiant effort of the B-Squad, it just seemed they weren’t going to be able to pull this off.  Do you blame me?

No Kyrie, No Smart, No Marcus Morris, No Al Horford, No Daniel Theis, and I’ll even put in No Gordon Hayward to prove a point.

Not to mention they went 4-0 on a west coast road trip!

There’s a few things I need to touch on:

This man does not give a damn that he has 6 out of arguably his 9 best players out for an extended period of time. He is exuding (is that a word?) so much confidence into these bench players that they are going out and beating WESTERN CONFERENCE PLAYOFF TEAMS.  I know Utah is far away from us and nobody really cares about them, but that was a REALLY good team that the B-Squad beat last night. I said I would be happy if they got out of this stretch above .500.  HAHAHAHA! Good one Sean, thinking we’d lose to teams fighting for the 3-seed in the western conference on their home floors because your team is literally down to 9 total players. IDIOT!  If you want to see how much confidence Brad has in this B-squad just watch the final play.  That play was designed for Semi…..     He wanted Semi, who balled for a season-high 32 minutes to take the final shot. Instead, he had the presence of mind to understand he wasn’t going to get a clean look and made the right play and passed it over to Jaylen.

Do me a favor and watch Brad Stevens in that replay.  Brad’s reaction to that 3 was him continuing to have his hands crossed and exert 0 emotion a la Bill Belichick.  Brad is such an emotional person too. I have no idea how you can be so much emotional towards your players and exert no emotion on outcomes of games at the same time. He’s a frickin anomaly, not even a fist pump.

2. Jaylen Brown

I am so happy this man is back. He led the team with 21 points on 6-10 shooting and went 3-3 from the beyond the arc.  This B-squad has gone full throttle this entire road trip and you can tell these guys are exhausted. After the game Jaylen was straight up with reporters and said he was so happy that the final shot went in because he had nothing left for overtime. These guys are going balls to the walls and winning games that they have ZERO business winning. That confidence and “look” I was complaining about earlier in the season with Jaylen is starting to make a comeback.

3. Jayson Tatum

In the final two minutes of this game if you were new to watching basketball, there would no way that you would guess that #0 hasn’t been in the league for years.  I refuse to brand this man as a rookie. He looks like he’s been in the league for a damn decade. I mean seriously??

Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Horford, Irving.  Just keep repeating it.  It’ll be real someday.

4.  Terry Rozier needs more love and I hate how my mind thinks long-term

Rozier had 13 points 7 rebounds last night, but this is more about his 33 point performance in Sacramento this week.  I said this road trip would be the Terry Rozier breakout party and last night was good but I have to go back to his game in Sacramento very quickly.  After seeing that performance, there is no doubt in my mind that he will be a starter on another team very soon.  He deserves it. Would I love him to be here forever? Of course. I also love the thought of Anthony Davis coming to Boston.  Terry makes the pipe dream a little less ridiculous. If he keeps playing like this teams will come knocking.  Remember when everyone FREAKED out at Danny Ainge picking him in the draft when we already had like 10 guards. Yeah…..Danny wins again.

The Isiah Thomas led Celtics team was one of the more ridiculous teams that I ever fell in love with. This B-Squad is quickly blowing by them on the ridiculous ladder. A team consisted of Larkin, Baynes, Yabusele, Nader, Tatum, Brown, Rozier, Ojeleye, and Monroe are beating playoff teams in their home buildings.  They are 3 games behind Toronto and play them twice before the season ends.  I will be the first to say I do not care where the Celtics play as long as they play Miami in the first round.  I want NO part of that Greek animal in Milwaukee, especially being as depleted as we are.  Then again, this team surprises me every day so we will probably sweep them no problem.
