Think of your all-time favorite movie, right now.
Got it? Good.
That movie to you is ALWAYS good. You could watch it over and over and over again and it’s always going to be an A+ movie that you love.
For me, that movie is Animal House. I could watch Animal House three straight times and I’ll still laugh my balls off every single time I see Belushi on camera.
The Celtics right now have gone full Animal House AND I COULD NOT LOVE IT MORE.
This is the most fun I’ve had watching Celtics basketball in a while. I know that the Isaiah-led team was action packed and so much fun to watch… but we all know that team had its flaws and when they came out they were the most frustrating thing alive.
I’m not saying this team doesn’t have flaws either. They definitely have some of their own. Still, this team is DANCING right now and the way they’re winning games is the way I have always loved to see them win… Defense, rebounding, ball movement and timely clutch buckets down the stretch. It happened again in the BK last night. Let’s get to it.
Bad News Bench
We’re starting off with the bad so we get it out of the way. The bench was most certainly NOT MOBBIN’ last night. We here at the Bench Mob pride ourselves on being bench guys and this was a slap in the face to all of us towel wavers out there. How bad was it?
4-26 from the floor shooting
1-10 shooting threes
THROW UP EVERYWHERE. The bench sucked, plain and simple. Brooklyn’s bench? They boogied all night scoring 38 points compared to the Celtics 13. I won’t get on the bench too much because they have played well lately, and I think last night was an anomaly but that shit cannot happen regularly. Yikes.
YOUTH!!! MOVEMENT!!! THE FUTURE IS NOW!!!
Jaylen and Jayson back at it again. Stat line city for both of them last night.
Jaylen: 14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, 5-9 shooting
Jayson: 19 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block, 6-9 shooting
They both combined for a +29 player rating and these two kids are the reason to be excited for the Celtics future. It’s early, yes… but if these two keep working they are going to be an all-time great force.
Always remember that Danny Ainge traded DOWN IN THE DRAFT and got a potential top-5 pick in next year’s draft ALONG WITH JAYSON TATUM… All hail, Danny.
MASKED KYRIE AND AGGRESSIVE AL
According to this post game interview, Kyrie said he passed on the black mask because the clear one allows him to have better court vision for his passing. I admire that aspect but I was really hoping for black mask Kyrie, but I digress. Kyrie HATED the mask last night. Every chance he got he would rip it off. Still didn’t stop him from being filthy. HIT IT!
Court vision… Check! — I really wasn’t worried about Kyrie’s offense with the mask because when you can ball like that… he could’ve had a blindfold on and I’d trust him. Seeing him dive for loose-balls and really getting on the floor was awesome to see.
What’s that? Al? WHAT UP, AL?!
17 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal.
8-10 shooting … +22 player rating
Al Horford is the best player on this team right now and it’s not close. He is the constant force that keeps this team going and we should all be thankful for it. Without Al, this team is not in this position.
MOOK MORRIS PARTY
Marcus Morris with his best game as a Celtic. I feel like I said that in the last recap but he just keeps getting better. His shot selection may drive you INSANE, but he hit some incredible shots last night.
Oddly enough, when the Celtics offense fell flat… Morris was right there with a big bucket to get things going again. Salute to you, Mook.
21 points, 10 rebounds, 8-12 shooting, 2-3 from deep
PLAY OF THE GAME
That right there just made me feel good. My goodness.
On To The Next One
The Celtics won this game by pulling their heads out of their asses and playing hard. They let Brooklyn back into the game with sloppy defense and bad offense. When they woke up, they flipped the switch and took the game back. I just hope that doesn’t become a habit.
The C’s won the rebounding battle AGAIN… Important? YOU BETCHA
The Celtics have won 39 of their last 41 games when they’ve out-rebounded their opponent.
Now here we are… 13 in a row and we are still having the most fun but Thursday is the night. Playing Golden State is the biggest measuring stick of the season. This streak has already been validated with wins against good teams but if the C’s can win Thursday… I’m going to freak out with excitement.
But that is Thursday and for now we just enjoy the best record in basketball… HIT IT!
Suck it, Nets*
