Isaiah Thomas is on the move… again.
This news literally just broke and I am sitting here laughing my ass off. Do I feel bad for Isaiah? Yes, deep down I really do. Because after what he did for the Celtics in his time here I’m grateful for.
Seriously though, this is hilarious.
JUST LAST NIGHT
I mean come on. You cannot sit there and read that and then not at least laugh a little bit when the news broke.
This is seriously one of the craziest sequences in NBA history. The Cavaliers thought they got the upper hand with the Brooklyn pick and Isaiah Thomas in the Kyrie deal. It just blew up right in their faces.
It’s no mystery that pretty much every Cleveland Cavaliers basketball player that matters (LeBron) wanted Isaiah Thomas to get the hell out of town.
I really don’t blame them either. Every story that drops about the Cavs seems to have Isaiah Thomas causing drama at the center of it. Isaiah is not the player he was last year because of his hip injury and he just was never going to fit in with what the Cavaliers do on offense.
The Cavs don’t play defense, so Isaiah Thomas did fit in that respect.
Somewhere Kevin Love is sitting on his couch screaming “WHY DIDN’T YOU JUST TRADE ME BACK HOME TO LA?!?!?!”
Poor Kevin Love.
What This Trade Means
This trade is GIGANTIC for the Lakers. It’s not about acquiring Isaiah Thomas. It’s about next year.
The Lakers just cleared all the cap space they needed in order to create two max player spots on their roster for free agency. They can go after players like Paul George… and LEBRON FREAKING JAMES.
Yes, the Cleveland Cavaliers just helped the Lakers clear cap space that they can use to poach their franchise player. The NBA is hilarious.
Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr were going to be paid by the Lakers and now that doesn’t exist anymore. The Lakers can go after the big guns they covet without any hesitations.
Oh yeah, THEY ALSO GOT A FIRST ROUND PICK.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Lakers hired Danny Ainge and paid him 50 million dollars to construct this deal for them. This is an incredible deal for the Lakers.
The Cleveland Circus
If LeBron ends up leaving for the Lakers, this will be the most Cleveland sports moment of all time.
Yes, it will eclipse any Browns moment ever in my mind. If they just paved the way for LeBron to head to LA and only got back Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr to show for it… That is rough.
Isaiah Thomas shot his way out of Cleveland, literally. He is performing at an all-time low and he is most certainly not getting that max contract he wants.
I don’t even anticipate him to be on the Lakers roster next year. You think LeBron wants to play with him? HAHA.
Thomas is now auditioning for his next team, that’s the rest of his season. I wish him the best.
Danny Ainge wins again.
