The first shot has been fired. The one we were all waiting for as NBA fans.
The first big trade of the NBA season (since games have started) which means it’s officially #BlockbusterSZN.
Since the NBA Playoffs have been such a foregone conclusion with teams like the Warriors and the Cavs trade season has been the most exciting part of the NBA season for the past couple of years.
Granted, there are a few more teams this year that can make some noise and maybe shake up the NBA Finals instead of having Warriors-Cavs 4 where the Warriors proceed to win… Again.
Regardless, trade season has begun and it’s all thanks to the LA Clippers and the Detroit Pistons.
The Clippers are sending Blake Griffin, Brice Johnson, and Willie Reed to the Pistons for Avery Bradley, Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic, and draft picks.
I wrote earlier about how the Pistons were shopping Avery Bradley and I really thought OKC was going to jump in and snag him. It turns out that the Clippers and Pistons had been in talks about this deal for 6 days.
I think this trade is hilarious because I can just imagine Blake Griffin sitting on his balcony in LA looking at the beautiful sunshine and then getting the call that he’s going to Detroit… That’s gotta hurt.
It’s clear that Doc is blowing the Clippers up, but I won’t get into that now.
The exciting thing is that once one of these trades happens, the rest start to fall into place. Teams get so worked up over the first trade of the season that they just have to get in on the action.
Can’t wait to see what comes next and I sure as shit hope it’s Lou Williams to the Celtics and that the Cavs keep imploding.
