“Sports are what you watch and pay attention to… all day?”
I’ve heard that exact quote from so many people in my life if I had a dollar for every time I heard it, I really could have around 115 dollars and that’s a good amount considering that’s 115 people.
It’s true though, sports have dominated my life ever since I was the fat kid riding the bench for just about every team I’ve ever been on. I used to shine when I played sports at Fat Camp in my youth, but even that was spoiled when I used to lie to my friends at camp that I was just as good out of camp as a starter for championship teams as I was playing for the Gold team in Color War basketball showdowns. That’s a different story for a different day where I talk about insecurities. This is about now.
While my athletic ability never really amounted to anything outside of a couple awesome plays over 43 games where kids would say “Huh, I never knew he could move like that… or move at all.” my knowledge for sports has always been my wheelhouse.
I know what you’re thinking, “I already follow so many sports outlets, I don’t need another, especially one about Boston.” … With so many options for sports news, it’s understandable that people get comfortable with their followings and stick to them.
Here’s the thing… The way I look at it is that I’m going to write these anyway because it’s what I think I know best, and I’ve been looking for another way to disappoint my parents now that I’ve graduated college. So I ask you, why not add one more unqualified guy’s sports opinion to your arsenal of followings?
Welcome to the Boston Bench Mob. Where Boston is the priority just like Revolutionary times, and where I cover national sports shit whenever I see fit.
