FOOTBALL FRIDAYS: LA Chargers vs New England Patriots

It feels like it’s been far too long since we all had the most wonderful Sunday. The Patriots defense dominated. The offense did what they had to do. Special teams were en fuego. Patriots on the come up and that’s the way we love it.

Then we said hello to misery… old friend. Misery decided to come back into our lives in brutal fashion with the news that Dont’a Hightower is out for the season. There’s still a game to be played Sunday and the Patriots are damn sure still going to play it. Here’s what to look for, though.

Stop saying the Chargers are bad because they really aren’t. I’m a big fan of this year’s Chargers actually. Granted, it’s STUPID STUPID IDIOT IDIOT MORONIC that they are not in San Diego and instead play away games EVERY week in LA, but that is beside the point. IDIOTS.

The Chargers are 3-4 but winners of three straight. Three out of those four losses the Chargers lost by three points or less. In those close game losses… Want to know what the kicking stats were? 2-5… SICK. The Chargers were essentially one real kicker away from possibly being 6-1. The “what if” game blows and I get that, but this isn’t a team to take lightly. The Chargers are 6th in the league in pass defense (Total passing yards allowed). I guess your pass defense has the chance to be decent when you have Joey Bosa plowing over every offensive lineman in the world en route to punching every quarterback in the mouth.

The Patriots O-Line has a tough task with Bosa, but it’s just about giving Touchdown Tommy enough time to throw a hot dot. Honestly, if the Patriots want to hit the Chargers right in their nuts… It’s going to be by running the ball. The Chargers are DEAD LAST IN THE LEAGUE IN RUSH DEFENSE. They allow 140 rushing yards per game. Give me 10 carries and I’ll get you at least 10 yards before I’m decapitated.

I expect big-time days from the running backs. This game has Dion Lewis written all over it. Lewis has been excelling in between the tackles lately, I expect that to continue.

Lastly, the Chargers are coming to Gillette… all the way from LA. That west coast to east coast trip has to SUCKKKKKK and it does affect teams like the Chargers and the Raiders whenever they play on the east coast. I think the Patriots find a way to gut this one out, but it’s going to be a close game. I just think at the end of the day we’re going to see Meltdown Philip Rivers in the 4th quarter where he gets all pissed off at his team and spits on somebody. The Pats are -7. Vegas bones me again…
