Rob Gronkowski has finally been released from concussion protocol and I’m now ready to run through a wall.
HERE WE GO!!!!!!!
I know that this was a foregone conclusion. I wrote a couple days ago that there was no way Gronk was going to miss the Super Bowl.
Still, it’s nice to finally hear the all clear. I can only imagine how the conversation went.
Trainer: “Rob, how do you feel?”
Gronk: “Let’s party.”
Trainer: “Alright, we’re good.”
Seriously I think that’s how it went. That’s it. Simple, clear-cut, ready to boogie.
Hot Tub Time Machine
Obviously, Rob Gronkowski didn’t suit up in the Super Bowl last year. So let’s take a look back at the last Super Bowl that he played in…
1 touchdown (A 22 yard DOT from Brady with Gronk set out wide)
Gronk was being covered by the likes of Bruce Irvin and Bobby Wagner in the last Super Bowl he played in. That Seahawks defense was a WAGON full of speedy linebackers who were good in coverage.
What About Now?
I like the Eagles linebackers, they have speed and the can cover.
Still, it’s Rob Gronkowski. He is the gigantic moose that you need to dedicate two guys to at all times in order to keep him contained.
Can the Eagles do that? I’m pretty sure they can throw two guys on him and keep him relatively quiet… but all that will do is open up Amendola, Hogan, and Cooks. Good luck.
At the end of the day, Gronk being on the field is game-changing for the Patriots. He was always going to be on the field, now it’s just official. I really think he’s going to make a lot of noise on Sunday just after coming off virtually no performance in the AFC Championship.
I just want all of the touchdown spikes… Every single one. Please and thank you.
